The Secrets Of Leadership: Affirming Your Leadership
As a leader, begin telling yourself the truth! You remember that earlier in this book, I quoted Goethe, “Treat a man as he is and he will remain what he is. Treat a man as he must be and he will become what he should be.”
That also applies to YOU. Understand to speak the truth to yourself about what you should be. Shake off the negative thoughts, the pessimistic evaluations of your self, and also the harmful thoughts about your abilities as well as your future. They are all lies. The Bible says, “I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; Consequently, choose life that both you and your descendants may live.” Deuteronomy 30:19
You have the power to choose life and death, blessing or the curse. As a leader, choose life. Yes, it’s that simple. You have the power to make that choice. You can go with the flow of negativism, doubt, and fear that is so rampant in our society. Or, you can choose to bless your life, your dreams, your family, your work, and your entire environment. You can make a difference!
A single person told me that she arrives at her office a single hour before anyone else. In that hour, she walks the halls praying for everybody who works there and for the goals and the tasks at hand. She speaks blessing over the whole building. She is choosing existence. From what I’ve been teaching you in this book, let me give you some truths to speak to yourself as well as your environment.
