Adding more people to your downline through online prospecting is a way to ensure that your business lasts longer than your efforts. This is the whole notion of passive residual income where your efforts today will pay off tomorrow and years to come. Without consistent prospecting, recruiting, and personal growth, you’re not going to make money and succeed. If you’ve never used an online prospecting system, don’t worry – it’s only a matter of following a few simple steps.
Before you begin, make sure you either know a bit about your business or know where to send people to find it. Never “wing it” though… If you don’t have an answer to a question, just say so. This serves two purposes. You gain credibility through your honesty and also you show your prospect that it is okay to not have all the answers.
Once you have your resources set up (like a great online presentation for your opportunity) then you need to start funneling people in.
One great place to start with online prospecting is through social media.
This type of online prospecting requires a bit of time to create rapport. This means for example, if you start with Facebook, you need to hone in on like minded entrepreneurial types. Next, you should send a friend request with a point of reference. This means that you need to take a moment, read their profile, and for example if you both have a favorite book, mention that in the friend request. Next, when they friend you back, I like to ask what is exciting in their lives. If they give you a dark or negative response you have two options, you can wish them the best and move on, or invite them to take a look at your online prospecting resources.
This is a fine line to walk. Remember, you have to pick your team carefully when you are online prospecting and you are not here to “save” people. If they seem to be really negative, you may not be able to pick them up even if your kind instincts make you feel like that is something you want to do.
I prefer to work with people who already have an upbeat outlook and who are looking for tools to improve their business.
Another great way to succeed in online prospecting is through using list builders.
This also is a process that requires rapport building because you will need to use a list builder like
Listjoe or Viralurl and send a compelling email. As people opt into your list, your provision of excellent information will keep your readers interested in what you have to say and will create a relationship of trust with your prospects. With time, these people can turn into converted leads all through this simple online prospecting technique.
