Considering an MCSE? It\’s very possible then that you\’ll fall into one of the following categories: You could already be in IT and you want to enhance your CV with the MCSE qualification. Or you might be just about to enter commercial IT, and you\’ve found there\’s lots of demand for men and women who are commercially qualified.
When researching training colleges, make it a policy to steer clear of those who reduce their costs by failing to provide the current Microsoft version. Such institutions will hold back the student as they will have been learning from an old version of MCSE which doesn\’t match the existing exam programme, so it will make it very difficult for them to pass.
A company\’s mission statement should be on doing the best thing for their clients, and they should care greatly about their results. Career study isn\’t just about the certification – it should initially look at helping you to decide on the best action plan for your future.
Adding in the cost of examination fees upfront then giving it \’Exam Guarantee\’ status is common for many companies. However, let\’s consider what\’s really going on:
It\’s become essential these days that we\’re a bit more aware of hype – and generally we know that for sure it is something we\’re paying for – they\’re not just being charitable and doling out freebies!

Hold on to your money and pay for the exam when you take the exam, and keep hold of your own money. You\’ll also be able to choose where to do the examinations – meaning you can choose a local testing centre.
A great deal of money is netted by many training colleges who take the exam money up-front. For quite legitimate reasons, a number of students don\’t get to do their exams but no refunds are given. Amazingly, there are companies around who actually bank on it – as that\’s how they make a lot of their profit.
Don\’t forget, in the majority of cases of \’exam guarantees\’ – you are not in control of when you are allowed to have another go. You\’ll have to prove conclusively that you can pass before they\’ll pay for another exam.
Prometric and VUE exams are currently clocking in at an average of 112 pounds in Britain at the time of writing. Potential Students hoping to start an IT career generally haven\’t a clue what direction is best, or which area to build their qualifications around.
I mean, if you have no know-how of the IT market, how could you possibly know what a particular IT employee actually does day-to-day? Let alone decide on which accreditation path provides the best chances for you to get there.
The key to answering this problem properly lies in a full discussion of several different topics:
* The kind of individual you reckon you are – what tasks do you enjoy, and conversely – what you definitely don\’t enjoy.
* Are you hoping to re-train due to a specific raison d\’etre – e.g. are you pushing to work at home (being your own boss?)?
* Have you thought about salary vs job satisfaction?
* Considering all that the IT industry encapsulates, it\’s important to be able to see the differences.
* You\’ll also need to think hard about the amount of time and effort you\’re going to give to your education.
The bottom line is, the only real way of investigating all this is through a meeting with someone who has enough background to provide solid advice.
One useful service that many training companies provide is a Job Placement Assistance program. The service is put in place to steer you into your first IT role. In reality it\’s not as hard as some people make out to find your first job – as long as you\’ve got the necessary skills and qualifications; the shortage of IT personnel in Britain looks after that.
Having said that, it\’s important to have help with your CV and interview techniques though; also we would encourage any student to update their CV as soon as they start a course – don\’t delay until you\’ve graduated or passed any exams.
Getting onto the \’maybe\’ pile of CV\’s is more than not being regarded at all. A surprising amount of junior support roles are offered to students (who\’ve only just left first base.)
Generally, a specialist independent regional employment agency (who will get paid by the employer when they\’ve placed you) should get better results than any division of a training company. It also stands to reason that they\’ll know local industry and the area better.
A constant grievance of various training companies is how much men and women are prepared to study to become certified, but how un-prepared that student is to get the job they\’re qualified for. Have confidence – the IT industry needs YOU.
Massive developments are about to hit technology over the next few decades – and it only gets more exciting every day.
There are people who believe that the technological advancement that\’s been a familiar part of our recent lives is easing off. All indicators point in the opposite direction. There are huge changes to come, and the internet in particular will become an increasingly dominant part of our lives.
The standard IT worker in the United Kingdom will also earn significantly more money than his or her counterpart outside of IT. Typical salaries are amongst the highest in the country.
The good news is there\’s not a hint of a downturn for IT industry increases in the UK. The sector continues to develop rapidly, and as we have a significant shortage of skilled professionals, it\’s not likely that there\’ll be any kind of easing off for years to come.
